Coaches are encouraged to further their coaching qualifications by attending FA Courses, in all cases the Club along with the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation helps provide funding to support Coaches achieve their goals.
Level 1 Courses
For Mini-Soccer the Club will fully fund 2 x Level 1 coaches per squad (i.e. Reds & Blues) and for 11 aside will fund up to 2 x Level 1 coaches per team (i.e. Yellows). The Club wants to encourage people in the Community to get involved with coaching and where there is a demand the Club will fully fund a Level 1 Certificate (this is subject to length of time with the Club, for those new to the Club 50% will be refunded on successful completion and the remaining 50% after a year).
Level 2 Course
Please note a coach does not have to attend a Level 1 course before attending Level 2, many new coaches have taken the decision to go straight to a Level 2 coaching course. This decision needs to be based on previous coaching experience and the length of time the Level 2 course is over that of the Level 1.
Level 1+ Courses
The Club is committed to improving the coaching standards within the Club and encourages coaches to further their Certificates. Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation endorses this through its Sporting Success grant, and where authorised a Coach can obtain up to 100% funding (where 100% is not allocated the Club may refund up to the difference, this is subject to the coach successfully passing).
The grant application form and coaches charter can be found on the LGCHF Sport Coaching Grants webpage and must be submitted prior to the Deadline for Application at LGCHF via the Club (authorised by the Club’s Chairman / Secretary/ Treasurer). The course must not have started before the Authorisation Date as this is seen as a retro application (see below).
So for example a course starting on the 17th May needs to be in before the 18th Feb to be authorised. If it were applied for on the 10th May then it would not be authorised until the 24th June and this is after the course, therefore classed as a retro application and will be rejected.
| Deadline for Application | Authorisation Date |
|---|---|
| No meeting during August | |
| 26 Aug | 23 Sept |
| 23 Sept | 21 Oct |
| 21 Oct | 18 Nov |
Where a coach does not apply for a LGCHF Sporting Success grant he/she is entitled to apply for a funding refund of up to 50% of the course fees from the Club, this is subject to the coach successfully passing the course. Where this applies the Training & Development Officer will present the application to the Executive Committee for approval.
