Eagles began their programme of pre season friendlies with a credible draw against a team from a higher level, but neither side set the crowd alight with their performance as few chances to score were created and they were either missed or dealt with by the opposition keeper.

Potton started brightly and should have scored in the first couple of minutes when Eagles defence was left exposed and keeper Sonny May had to make two excellent saves to push away a shot from about 12 yards out and then fall on the shot from the rebound.

Eales took time to threaten the Potton goal but Rod Agyeman Duah was a real threat on the left wing and after 17 minutes he cut inside a defender and pulled his low shot wide of the far post. After half an hour returnee Summers had a chance to score near the foot of the post from close range but his effort was blocked by the keeper.

At the other end May spilled a shot from 20 yards but was able to dive on the ball before it could be reached by a Potton forward. At the end of the first 45 minutes Will Blair attempted a bicycle kick effort over his shoulder but the ball passed wide of the goal. May then held a shot from the edge of the penalty area at the other end.

In the second half Potton were first to mount a threat on goal but the final shot from inside the penalty area was well over the cross bar. Blair then shot from 25 yards out but straight at the keeper. He almost succeeded with his next attempt after 50 minutes when he robbed a defender who dallied on the ball in his penalty area, and forced the keeper to make an excellent save and turn the ball round the post for a corner.

Play switched to the other end and replacement Eagles keeper Alfie Bozward had to make a good save with legs and body behind the ball after a break down the left side of the field. After 80 minutes Potton again created a good chance to score after another break down the left side but after cutting inside the Potton player  blazed high and wide of the Eagles goal. In the final minutes Kain Brown shot wide of goal from outside the penalty area as the game drew to a goal less end.
